BOOK ROOM DOOR
Book Room Door,
Dual-Locked by Design
WHY BUY FROM US
Two locks, not one.
Every book room door pairs an independent combination lock with a separate key lock, so a single failure point never compromises the room.
Dual-Lock System
A 3-wheel keyless combination lock and an 8-lever key lock, operating independently, so one lock failing doesn’t compromise the other.
Relocker Protected
Two relockers guard both lock mechanisms, any forced attempt to dislodge a lock activates the internal boltwork and restricts movement.
Fire & Burglary Rated
Available in Class A or Class B builds, each rated for both fire exposure and forced-entry resistance, not one or the other.
Genuine Chubb Stock
Authorised dealer stock, not a grey market import, every door traceable back to Chubb’s own manufacturing standard.
THE RANGE
Two classes, one purpose.
Class A and Class B builds differ in steel thickness, both share the same dual-lock security system.
A book room door is designed for a dedicated room storing confidential documents, cash and limited valuables, lighter-duty than a full strong room, but still built to resist both fire and forced entry. The choice between Class A and Class B comes down to how much protection the room actually needs.
Class A vs. Class B
Class A doors run 124mm overall thickness with a 12mm steel plate, Class B runs 121mm with a 9mm plate. Both resist fire and forced entry, Class A simply offers a thicker protective layer.
Bolt system
Four active front bolts, each 32mm in diameter, lock into the frame alongside a full-height fixed rear docking bolt. This spreads the load across the entire door, not just the lock side.
Frame construction
The door frame is fabricated from bent steel sections, forming a single structure with vestibule side frames that grip the inside of the wall, anchoring the whole unit into the room itself.
WHY IT MATTERS
Paper fails long before it burns
Fire rating isn’t just about whether documents survive the flames, it’s about the heat they’re exposed to before that.
Paper doesn’t need to catch fire to be destroyed. Documents become brittle, scorched and unreadable at temperatures well below the point where paper actually ignites, which typically sits above 230°C. That’s why a fire rating measured only in “does it burn” understates the real risk to a room full of records.
Paper documents
Paper chars become illegible well before ignition, typically starting around 175°C, long before the point of actual combustion occurs during a fire event.
Digital media
Digital media is the most heat-sensitive of all, hard drives and USB storage can suffer permanent data loss at temperatures as low as 50-60°C.
Cash & valuables
Cash and most valuables tolerate higher temperatures than paper or digital media, but sustained heat still causes warping, discolouration and damage over time.
CERTIFIED SECURITY
Two locks. Two relockers. One standard.
The combination lock and key lock operate independently, so a fault in one never compromises the other. Both are backed by relockers, if someone attempts to force either lock, the internal boltwork locks down automatically, and drill-resistant hard plates protect the relockers themselves from being bypassed.
This isn’t a single point of failure dressed up as two locks, it’s genuinely redundant security.

BEFORE YOU DECIDE
Not every book room door is equal.
Class ratings and lock counts look similar on paper, every supplier claims dual security. In practice, the gap shows up in the details: relocker protection, plate thickness, and whether the stock is genuine.
Whether you’re comparing a Chubb book room door against Falcon or another local supplier, the details worth checking stay the same: verified class rating, genuine dual-lock construction, and stock you can trace back to an authorised dealer. Ask any supplier for the actual steel plate thickness, not just a class letter, and confirm whether relockers are included as standard or sold as an upgrade. That’s what’s built into every book room door on this page.
What to Check Before You Buy
|
Plate Thickness Ask for the exact steel plate thickness, a class letter alone doesn’t tell you how much protection you’re actually getting. . |
Lock Independence Confirm the lock system operates independently, not as a single mechanism with two access methods. |
|
Relocker Inclusion Check whether relockers are standard or an added cost, this is a genuine security feature, not an accessory. |
Genuine Stock Ask if the stock is genuine and traceable to an authorised dealer, not a parallel import with no local backing. |
Choosing The Right Safe
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Explore answers about book room door features, specifications, installation, and maintenance to help you choose the right solution for your property.
Where is the best place to position a door in a room?
The placement of a door can significantly affect how a room functions and how efficiently the space is used. Doors placed in the middle of a wall can divide the space and turn the room into a circulation path instead of a practical living or working area. Ideally, place doors to the side or corner of a room to preserve clear zones for furniture placement and daily activities. Good door placement improves movement, layout flexibility, and the overall usability of the space.
What is a book room door?
A book room door is a heavy-duty, high-security steel door designed to protect archives, confidential documents, records, and valuable items in locations such as banks, offices, and government buildings. These doors are built with reinforced materials and advanced locking mechanisms to provide enhanced protection against unauthorized access, theft, and forced entry.
How heavy is a security bookroom door?
The weight of a security bookroom door depends on its security level, design, and protective steel thickness. Generally, these doors can range from 280 kg to 580 kg, with steel thicknesses typically ranging from 6mm to 25mm. Standard clear openings are approximately 1908mm high by 805mm wide, although sizes may vary depending on the installation requirements and building specifications.
What locking systems are used for security bookroom doors?
Security bookroom doors use advanced locking systems to provide strong protection against unauthorized access. Common options include UL-listed 3-wheel mechanical keyless combination locks, 7-level or 8-level industrial key locks, and active relockers that automatically secure the bolts if the door is forced or attacked. These mechanisms provide multiple layers of security for sensitive storage areas.
Do security bookroom doors include day gates?
Yes, many commercial security bookroom door models come with an inner grille gate or day gate. This additional feature allows ventilation and visibility during operating hours while still restricting unauthorized entry. Day gates are commonly used in facilities that require controlled access while maintaining convenience for daily operations.
